Questions teams ask

HCP data FAQs

What is an NPI number?

The National Provider Identifier (NPI) is a unique 10-digit number assigned to healthcare providers in the U.S. It stays with the provider when they change jobs or locations, which makes it a reliable way to identify a specific HCP. You can search for an HCP in Intent.Health by NPI.

What is the difference between the NPI and the IH HCP ID?

The NPI is the federal identifier for a provider. The IH HCP ID is Intent.Health's own unique identifier for each HCP record. Both can be used to find a specific provider.

How reliable are HCP email addresses?

Each email shows a reliability level. High Reliability emails are marked Mass Campaign Ready, Moderate Reliability emails should be used with caution, and Low Reliability emails are not recommended for outreach. You can also filter by business or personal email type.

Can I find HCPs by specialty or credential?

Yes. Clinical Profile filters let you search by specialty, such as Urology or Vascular Surgery, by broader specialty group, by credential, and by whether the HCP offers telehealth.

What are HCP affiliations?

Affiliations show the healthcare organizations and locations where an HCP practices. They can include primary, secondary, visiting, rotating and procedural affiliations across hospitals, health systems, group practices, outpatient sites and more. An affiliation does not by itself establish employment or purchasing authority.

What does Any (OR) and All (AND) mean for affiliation filters?

When you select more than one affiliation type, Any (OR) finds HCPs affiliated with at least one of the selected types, and All (AND) finds HCPs affiliated with every selected type.

What are CPT codes and why do they matter?

CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) codes are standardized codes that describe the medical services and procedures a provider performs. The CPT codes associated with an HCP help you understand the types of services linked to their practice.

What Medicare information is in an HCP profile?

The Medicare Profile draws on CMS and other Medicare data sources across 17 data groups, covering areas such as enrollment, patient care, payments, prescriptions, quality scores, ordering and referring eligibility, opt-out status and provider revalidation.

What does Claims Data show?

Claims Data shows an HCP's prescription drug claims activity by year, with records available from 2017 through 2024. You can see total claims, total drug cost, beneficiaries, 30-day fills, the top 10 drugs by claims volume and a searchable drug-level table.

Do intent signals show what an HCP is ready to buy?

No. Problem, Solution, Category and Brand Intent show topics an HCP has been researching, and Propensity Analysis scores the strength of that interest. They help you prioritize and personalize outreach, but they do not confirm a purchase decision.
