A health system is a group of hospitals, clinics and other healthcare organizations that operate under a shared organization or management structure. Health systems can include acute care hospitals, physician groups, home health and other services that work together to deliver care.
The terms overlap. A health system emphasizes shared ownership or management of multiple facilities. An IDN emphasizes integration across the continuum of care, sometimes including a health plan. Intent.Health covers both and lets you see the links between them.
Teaching intensity classifies a health system by the teaching status of its hospitals: Major Teaching, Minor Teaching or Non Teaching. Teaching systems train residents and often provide more complex care and research.
System Flags highlight characteristics such as being a multi-state system, having a major or very major teaching hospital, a high disproportionate share of low-income patients, or a high uncompensated care burden.
A high disproportionate share means a system serves a large share of low-income patients, such as Medicaid and uninsured patients. Uncompensated care is care provided without full payment. Both can indicate financial pressure that shapes priorities.
Yes. The Insurance Products filter finds systems associated with a Medicare Advantage plan, Medicaid Managed Care plan or Health Insurance Marketplace plan. You can also filter by Medicare Advantage enrollment from 200 to 65,000.
Health System Characteristics show the number of hospitals, system beds, physicians including PCPs, discharges, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, medical residents, group practices and home health providers, plus ownership and teaching status.
It shows how the system connects to IDNs, GPOs, hospitals, group practices, home health and other organizations, with a summary of linked organizations, executives, HCPs and states. You can search across all linked modules to map where decisions may be coordinated.
Yes. The EHR Stack shows the EHR vendor associated with the health system, such as Epic, and the Technology Stack shows other detected software and systems.
No. Intent keywords, such as care coordination, population health or workforce planning, show topics the system has been researching. They help you prioritize and tailor outreach, but do not confirm a purchase, budget or timeline.
