Hospital data FAQs

What hospital data can I filter by?

You can filter by technology stack, organization intent, Intent.Health ID, EHR vendor, organizational profile and network relationships, plus 53 quality, program and compliance datasets. These cover patient safety and infections, readmissions, value-based purchasing, patient experience, care quality, Medicare spending, inspections and ownership, and more.

Can I find hospitals by EHR vendor?

Yes. The EHR Stack filter lets you enter an EHR vendor, such as Epic, to find hospitals that use it. This is useful for integration partners, implementation consultants and vendors whose products depend on a specific EHR.

What do the hospital ownership types mean?

Broad ownership categories include Governmental (Public), Proprietary (For-Profit/Investor-Owned), Voluntary (Private Not-for-Profit), Multiunit Systems and Chains, and specialized types. Hospital Ownership adds detail, such as Government - State, Physician, Tribal or Voluntary Non-Profit - Church. Ownership can affect how decisions and budgets are set.

What is the difference between total and net patient revenue?

Total patient revenue is what the hospital charges for patient services. Net patient revenue is what remains after deductions such as contractual adjustments with insurers and discounts, so it is closer to what the hospital actually receives.

What is a CCN?

The CMS Certification Number (CCN) identifies a hospital for Medicare purposes. Hospital profiles show it alongside the NPI, Medicare enrollment ID, provider type and incorporation details, which helps when matching records across CMS datasets.

What is HCAHPS?

HCAHPS (Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems) is a national survey of patients' experiences in the hospital, covering areas such as communication with nurses and doctors, responsiveness and cleanliness. You can filter hospitals by HCAHPS survey results.

What are hospital-acquired conditions?

They are conditions patients develop during a hospital stay that were not present on admission, such as falls and trauma or a foreign object retained after surgery. You can filter hospitals by reported rates for selected measures over a chosen period.

What is uncompensated care burden?

It measures how much care a hospital provides without receiving full payment, including charity care and bad debt. A high burden can indicate financial pressure and influence purchasing priorities.

Can I see a hospital's affiliations?

Yes. Network Relationships filters find hospitals with an affiliated IDN, health system, GPO, corporate owner, SNF or nursing home, home health, hospice, outpatient site or group practice. This helps you see where decisions may be coordinated beyond the hospital itself.

Do quality scores tell me what a hospital will buy?

No. Quality, cost and compliance data show how a hospital performs and where it may face pressure, which can help you prioritize and tailor outreach. They do not confirm a need, budget or purchasing decision.
