Five minutes before you hit send. Cheaper than finding out after the fact.

Before the next physician campaign goes out, five questions are worth asking out loud in the room, not because the answers are hard to find, but because almost nobody asks them until after the results come in.

1. When was this specific list last validated, not refreshed?

"Refreshed" and "validated" get used interchangeably, and they aren't the same thing. A refresh can mean a scheduled delivery from a provider. A validation means someone confirmed the records are current right now. If the honest answer is "I'm not sure" or "over a year ago," the list is probably already carrying more dead weight than anyone's accounted for.

2. What's our actual dollar exposure if this list is 20% undeliverable?

Not the percentage. The dollar figure. At roughly $150 in product value plus $40 in round-trip shipping, 20% undeliverable on a list of even a few thousand physicians adds up fast. If nobody in the room can produce that number in the next thirty seconds, it's worth pausing until someone can.

3. Has anyone independently checked NPI status and affiliations, or are we assuming the provider covers that?

A provider maintaining the list and someone actively verifying NPI and affiliation status against current sources are two different things. It's worth asking directly which one has actually happened for this specific list, recently, rather than assuming the answer is yes.
